"Official Rules"

When does it start?  Monday August 4th  (first weigh in August 3rd and weight loss goal)

How long will it last?  12 weeks

When is the end date? November 1st (final weigh in November 2nd)

Cost to participate?  $10

How does it work?:

* Each participant must set a weight loss goal (goal minimum of 5 pounds).
*To join the competition, each participant must pay in $10 (this will become the pot for the winner).

*On each Sunday, you must report your weight to Beth.  She is the only person who will see this info and it will be in safe hands.  The only information you will see about other participants, is the total % of weight loss each person achieves in a week.

*The competition is set up on a points system.  There are certain things you must do each day to earn points.  In the end, the person with the most points will be the big winner!

Weekly Goals (how to earn points):

- Exercise: 1 point for every 30 minute session of exercise; weekly maximum of 6 points in a week

- Water: drink at least 64 oz of water every day; 1 point each day of compliance, with a maximum of 7 points per week

-No Sweets: no eating sweets allowed (candy, cake, ice-cream… you get the idea) 1 point for every day of compliance, 2 cheat days allowed; weekly maximum 5 points

- Eat Fruits: 1 point for every 1 cup measurement of fruit you eat each day (daily maximum 2 points, weekly maximum 14 points) - here is a handy little chart to tell you how much fruit constitutes 1 cup:  http://www.choosemyplate.gov/food-groups/fruits_counts_table.html

- Eat Veggies: 1 point for every 1 cup measurement of veggies you eat each day (daily maximum 2 points, weekly maximum 14 points) - here is a handy little chart to tell you how much veggies constitutes 1 cup: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/food-groups/vegetables_counts_table.html

- No Soda: No drinking carbonation or soda (diet or regular) six days a week (you have 1 cheat day per week); 1 point for each day of compliance, with a maximum of 6 points per week

- 9pm: No eating food after 9pm six days a week (you have 1 cheat day per week); 1 point for each day of compliance; maximum of 6 points per week

Full Competition Goals:
- Weight Loss: you will be rewarded 10 extra points at the end of the competition if you meet your personal weight loss goal
- Biggest Loser: 20 extra points will be rewarded to the person who has the most weight loss by percentage of beginning body weight
- Weekly % Weight Loss: 1 extra point to the person with highest percentage of weight loss in a week

I have a group page on Facebook  for everyone to view the standings of the competition.  Each Sunday participants must report their numbers for the previous week to me by no later than Monday 5pm.. 5 pm will be the cut off time and any reports submitted after 5 will be considered void and that participant will receive no points for the week (no exceptions to this rule).  By 11pm each Monday the Competition Manager (that's me) will finalize the weekly points from the prior week and post them for everyone to view.

So, that's all the boring stuff.  The best part is the pay out.  Here's how it works.  50% of the pot will be designated as a pay out for everyone who reaches their final weight loss goal.  This money will be divided up into equal parts.  For example:

If we have 30 participants, the total pot would be $300.  50% of the pot is $150.  Divide this by the total number of participants for a total of $5.00.  Each participant that reaches their final goal will be paid $5.00.  However, if only 5 participants reach their goal, the $150 will be divided by 5 for a total pay out of $30.00 each.  As you can see, as others fail to reach their goals, it only benefits you.  :)

The other 50% of the pot is left for the biggest loser.  This amount would be in addition to the amount they received for reaching their goal.  Again for example:

If we have 30 participants, the total pot would be $300.  50% of the pot is $150.  The biggest loser would win $150 (plus whatever amount they earn for reaching their goal).

Of course, the ultimate pay off is that at the end of it all, you will have lost weight and hopefully formed some very healthy habits.
